NBP Kids Bike Swap!

2014 NBP Kids Bike Swap

May 3rd, 2014, 10am-1pm

Kids grow so fast, make sure their bikes grow with them! Come and sell the bike that your child outgrew, and buy a larger, second-hand bicycle from other families from the Newark community at the Newark Bike Project at 58 E. Main St. It’s simple:

  1.  Drop off the bicycle at the Newark Bike Project on Saturday May 3rd from 10-11:30. We will help you determine a fair asking price, put a tag on it and set it up for display.
  2.  Browse and buy other families’ used kids bicycles during the event from 10-1 on May 3rd. It will all be indoors, so we will be there rain or shine.
  3. We will notify you if your bicycle is sold during the Swap. You can then collect your cash until one hour after the end of the swap (2 pm). If you are unable to collect the money on the day of the swap, you can pick it up at the Newark Bike Project’s open shop evening on Tuesday, May 6, 6-9 pm.
  4. Did your bike not sell at the Swap? Unsold bicycles can either be picked up after the Swap (until 2 pm) or donated to the Newark Bike Project. These donated bikes will be donated to a local elementary school!

Visiting the Kids Bike Swap is free. To support the organization of this event and the working of the Newark Bike Project, the Newark Bike Project keeps 20% from each bike sale. This means that if your used bicycle is sold for $40, $8 will go to the Newark Bike Project to support the event and $32 goes to the seller. – For this Kids Bike Swap, we welcome only bicycles that are aimed at children aged 12 and under. Other NBP used adult bicycles will also be for sale. In addition to this event, please visit our Open Shop hours, every Tuesday from 6-9 pm and every Wednesday from 5-7 PM for sales of all types of bicycles. – Does the bike you want to sell have a flat tire? Newark Bike Project volunteers can fix a flat tire or adjust seat heights. – All sales are cash-only and are between the current bike owner and the buyer. The Newark Bike Project acts only as the marketplace and is not responsible for the quality or safety of the bikes sold. – You don’t need to bring a bike to participate in the Kids Bike Swap. If you don’t have a bike to sell but are interested in buying a used children’s bicycle, feel free to come and browse around!
