Happy November!
If you’ve stopped by our open shops recently, you might think that things are starting to slow down at NBP for the winter – but guess again! We’re always looking for ways to branch out and expand. This winter we hope to make our volunteer program even better!
For folks interested in volunteering, this is a great time to get involved – in fact, I started volunteering at NBP during the dead of winter this past January! You can get involved in whatever capacity suits you – the winter is a great time to beef up your mechanic skills (if that’s what you’re into) with one-on-one time working with our experienced mechanics. We now have two opportunities a week to volunteer at open shop (Tuesday and Wednesday evenings) plus shop maintenance days every 1st and 3rd Saturday afternoon, so come check us out!
This week at the shop:
Tuesdays, 11/12 and 11/19: Open Shop from 6-9 PM. Come fix your bike with our knowledgeable mechanics! Donations welcome.
Wednesdays, 11/13 and 11/20: Special Shop Hours 5-7 PM – Open for sales and donations, and limited DIY repairs. Volunteers welcome, no experience necessary!
Saturday, 11/16: Volunteer Orientation (12-1) and Shop Maintenance (12-4) – Interested in volunteering with NBP? Shop maintenance is the perfect opportunity – we’ll show you around, introduce you to our other dedicated volunteers, and get you plugged in immediately! Donations welcome. *After shop, we’ll supply some pizza and beverages for volunteers :)*
Thursday, 11/21: Women and LGBT night from 7-9 PM – Come work on your bike in a WLGBT friendly space!
COMMUNITY EVENTS:
Saturday, 11/16: 5:30-8:30 PM Documentary Screening – VEGUCATED. Delaware Action for Animals will be screening Vegucated, a documentary film that follows three meat-and-cheese loving New Yorkers on a 6 week vegan-diet challenge. There will be vegan holiday food samples and a Skype Q&A session with a cast member after the film. See attached flier for more details! (The screening is at NBP)
Saturday, 11/23: Community Dinner at 6 PM. Hosted by our friends at the Down to Earth Food Co-op, this dinner will be held
at the beautiful New Century Club building at 201 E. Delaware Ave. The theme of this dinner is Gratitude – DTE will prepare dishes but also encourages those that are able to bring a homemade, vegetarian-friendly dish to share! There is a suggested donation of $5 and please try to bring a cup/bowl/plate. Please RSVP by Nov. 19th
